A Letter To My Dad

My Dad

My Daddy…

You may not have carried me like Mom did.

You didn’t get to feel me grow.

You didn’t get to have that physical cord that connected me to you.

But I’m sure one of the things you first noticed was those big doll eyes staring back at you were much like yours.

daddy

“When kiddo comes to sleep by me, that’s how it looks and feels like.”

When I was born, Mom got to me first while you stood there in awe.

When you finally got your turn, you didn’t know how to hold me because you thought you would break my tiny body

It’s okay though Dad, I wasn’t scared.

I’m sure I could sense your worry.

I’m sure I could feel your fears.

But much more, I know that I could feel the love that was radiating off of you as you looked at me.

Unknown

I put you through a lot growing up.

I had to get stitches and you tried your hardest to be strong for me but that popsicle the nurse gave you was much needed at the end of my screaming.

I passed out in front of your eyes leaving you with nightmares for months to follow.

You watched me waste away feeling unable to save me like I know you wish you could.

You had to be strong for me when I was weak and angry.

That was hard.

heartwarming-Pictures-Love-Between-Dad-and-Little-daughter-6-800x800

“Sleep, my little one. I am here.” Dada will take care of the monsters.

But you also helped me to reach my goals.

You taught me to ride a bike and to skate despite wanting to wrap me in bubble wrap when I wanted to be set free.

You let me learn some hard lessons no matter how hard it was for you to let me do it myself.

I saw your pride when I graduated and with every Dean’s Honour List certificate I brought home despite us loosing space on our wall.

You gave me something to look forward to when I hit rock bottom.

And then when I conquered that battle, you kept your promise and taught me the basics of something that changed my life.

You helped shape me into the person I am today.

For that I can never say thank you enough, but I can try my hardest to be the best daughter that I can be and hopefully blossom into someone you can be proud of.

father-daughter-love-illustrations-13

“Walking high above the world.”

So on this day Dad and every day, I always want you to know how loved you truly are. How much I appreciate everything that you do.

You may not have had the option to be physically connected to me like Mom was, but I never saw you any differently.

I will always look up to you. Always.

Never forget that you will always have a Daddy’s Lil girl.

Your Bun loves you more then you could ever know.

…and to all the boys…

They have a tough teddy bear to stand next to before they can grab my heart.

Happy Father’s Day Dad.

XOXO

-Chess

I have to give credit to the site that displayed the beautiful pictures in this post done by Snezhana Soosh. They depict the father-daughter relationship in such a beautiful and touching way. I legit was getting teary eyes browsing through them and reading your captions.

Mom’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day my friends

051a9195950a6e7cb892596602044733

If you’re a Mom, I hope you enjoy this beautiful Saturday. I hope you get the lovely sun we are going to experience today here in CANADDDAAA.

My Mom is someone special. No, more then just special. There is no real word that I can use to explain her to a tee. She is so many things to me.

Beautiful (both inside and out)

Hilarious

Independent

Supportive

Loving (This is an understatement)

Compassionate (she loves all)

Always Smiling (even with her constant migraines, chronic back pain and fibromyalgia)

Positive (counteracts my and my Dad’s negative sides)

Wise (got that from her Daddy)

Empathetic (you can’t slide anything past her)

and…

Incredibly Strong

Speaking of strong…

This video is very well done in my opinion. It made me smile and I love the quotation at the end. I sent that to my Mom the moment I saw it because it speaks the truth and made me think of her.

She is and always will be more then just my Mom. She is my best friend. My number one cheerleader. The person I go to with anything.

She’s my rock.

I cannot even fathom my life without her and without our close friendship.

With that, I say thank you. Thank you Mom for being you. For showing me what a strong women is like and what it means to love and be loved unconditionally.

You have given me life both physically and spiritually and ….selfishly, I’m going to keep you as close to me as possible for the rest of our years.

I hope you understand. 🙂

You don’t have to wait until a specific day to tell your Mom what she means to you but today, remember all of the smiles and times you have spent together and then take those thoughts and roll with them. Call her. Tell her.

Remember that saying “I love you” can never be over used and loose it’s meaning.

Tell me one beautiful moment you have had with your Mom if you wish. I would love to hear them.

Cupid, Shoot Me Now…It’s Okay To Miss Love

My Friends!

Happy Valentines Day! Despite not thinking that days like this should be taken too seriously, I mean, if you’re in love you shouldn’t only celebrate it once a year, but I hope all the love birds out there make sure that they are spending some time with their other half today.

images-5.jpeg

Speaking of lovey dovey and all the gushy things, I’m gunna open all up to you all today a lil bit. Real talk time. Promise a long post is not what I’m trying to do here HA.

Love.

It’s a beautiful thing. It’s feeling like you want to be with someone always. They are your happy place. You adore taking the time to do things for them and their touch is probably the best thing of life.

Being Single.

This is a great place to be too. You have the time to learn about yourself through doing all the things YOU WANT. No compromises. You do you and you grow because of it.

You don’t need to take these lovey holidays to dwell on the fact that you don’t have that special person in your life at the moment. It really saddens me to hear others are sad on this day or hate when this day comes around because really it’s just another day.

Anti-Valentines-Day-Metal-Playlist-4038.jpg

If you like chocolate, this day represents the national “it’s chocolate on sale’ day.

It gives you a reason to watch sappy Valentine’s day rom-coms in your PJ’s.

It’s a fun day to write cute Valentines for your friends.

You can be a lil kid again and make all your food heart shaped and in all shades of red and pink.

See, so many fun themed things go on this day so what’s to hate on?

valentine12.png

All this being said, it is okay to take the time to think about things and let those feelings really sink in and be processed. Recently, not just today, I have been really been thinking about how I feel about relationships.

I miss them.

I miss the snuggles. I miss taking care of someone. I miss feeling connected with someone on that other level. Texting, calling and just feeling close with someone.

I miss it all.

I started to feel frustrated with myself because I have been saying how happy I am with my current level of confidence and and yet here I am feeling slightly upset with being single for this long.

Then I stopped myself and thought about the fact that I’m not upset I’m single. I’m not feeling as if I cannot function without a righthand man in my life. I’m not actively searching out for a guy to jump into a relationship with.

I’m still confident being on my own, but I’m also okay with also saying that I miss being in a relationship.

It doesn’t make you needy to want to be in a relationship. It doesn’t mean you’re insecure. It means you are a human and you’re not afraid to be vulnerable, open and honest about your feelings.

So today I hope you all enjoy yourself whether you are with your lovebird or whether you are with your friends, your family, your dog, your TV, your blanket, WHATEVER. Most importantly, think about yourself and make sure you give yourself some love too.

Cook yourself something bomb.

Valentine’s Day is more then just for couples. It can also be about love in general. Love who you are wherever place in life you’re currently at.

Love you all! ❤

The Valentine’s Candies, love em’ or hate ’em? Cinnamon hearts are disgusting despite loving cinnamon. Not huge chocolate fan either so I would say leave ’em.

The End Of The Year Has Come…

It’s the last day of 2015…

Whatcha doing?

tumblr_mfvnnlCKLU1r1amgeo2_r1_250.gif

Happy New Years Eve my friends!

I first want to take the time to send a birthday shoutout to my MamaScreen Shot 2015-12-31 at 8.53.46 PM.png

New Years Eve baby she is ❤

For this reason, today rarely marks a day where I’m out partyin. If I have plans, then sure, but more often then not we celebrate together because it’s more about her birthday. She opened her presents over Chinese food and we generally will watch some comedies followed by the ball drop in NYC. Then it’s a race between my Dad and my Auntie Wendy (his sister) to see who can call up my Nana and Papa first to scream Happy New Year.

It’s tradition.

Can you tell that we are all about traditions in this house?

Oh, movie choice for tonight is Police Academy. Anyone else ever seen these movies? They are before my time but my parents and I watched them when I was a kid and they still make me laugh. That old fashioned, cheesy humour

So I wanted to take the time to do a fun lil year wrap up survey as well. Apparently I’m on a survey kick lately.

But first, here are some blog stats that WordPress so kindly sent to me.

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 34,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 13 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The busiest day of the year was October 18th with 624 views. The most popular post that day was Strength Isn’t Something You Are Taught.

Top referring sites: Lord Still Loves Me, Facebook

Top Commenters: Brooke, Ellie (Follow her here!) and Carolyn. Much love ladies!

Thanks so much for all of your love and support! I truly love you all and always appreciate you all for all you do for me.

So onto that survey…

I found this survey on Christine Hennessey’s blog and it looks fun so here it is. (Don’t forget to check out hers here)

1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
Many firsts. I asked out a guy for the first time in my life. I took over taking care of bills in my house (means I’m an adult now right?).Got my first MRI and colonoscopy (not fun..).

2. Did you keep your New Year’s Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t really set New Years Resolutions. My thoughts on those were in my post the other day.

I did tell myself that my second year at Guelph I was going to make sure I didn’t stress as much and I think I did work towards that.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My Auntie Melanie gave birth to her third child, a baby boy named Kane who unfortunately I have yet to meet. My cousin Chantal also welcomed a third baby, Melanie, into the family. As far as friends, despite the huge string of engagements, I’m thinking I’m still a bit young to be seeing too many babies.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully no. *Knock on wood* I have never actually experienced a death that is close to home for me.

5. What places did you visit?
Sadly I didn’t really travel much at all this year. Student life problems. The furthest I went this year was our typical trip to the Walden Gallery for shopping in the last weeks of summer.

Oh I did go to Ripley’s Aquarium for the first time. My Mom and I had wanted to go there for like ever and it was a lot of fun!

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2016?
Energy. This fall (post Thanksgiving) really marked the start of my legit weight gain goals and working with Mike. Due to my weight loss, I was really starting to lack in the energy department and I’m happy to say that it is getting better slowly but surely with the food increases.

7. What dates from 2015 will remain etched in your memory, and why?
Moving into our new house in Guelph. I was super excited about getting to live with my ladies. ❤

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Accepting that I needed help. Other achievements include maintaining my honours status at school, be awarded with a scholarship that I didn’t know about.

Also, a bit of an ego booster was learning that my school actually only accepts about 5 transfers per year. Here I was wondering why everyone was telling me that my program was hard to get into and know I understand. But hey, means I didn’t worry at the time and now it just makes me feel all kinds of special. 😀

9. What was your biggest failure?
Failure? Wow harsh words. One negative that is sticking out in my mind because it’s fresh is getting a less then honours mark overall in my biomammalian physiology course this semester. It brought down my overall average/GPA to an 82 which I was very disappointed with so I hope I can bring that up again next semester.

10: Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got food poisoning once this year…Never again will I be able to a hard boiled egg.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hmmm…Maybe my Nikes.  Wow these questions are testing my memory skills…and showing my lack of said skills…

12. Who’s behavior merited celebration?
Rita. I have never seen her work so hard at school and she did so well this semester! I’m so proud of her.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
We shall say that I learned a lot from my first lil dip back into the dating game in the summer…Immaturity

14. Where did most of your money go?
Supplements. Ouch.

15. What did you get really excited about?
Being able to enjoy my summer at home, but at the same time, getting super excited at the end of the summer to house with my besties back at school.

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?
I’m a very passive music listener. Mostly whatever comes on Pandora. That said, I really like the song “Home,” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. I first heard it in a car full of yoga friends, driving to an out-of-town Ashtanga workshop, after I had to decided to go to UNCW and move away. It was a bittersweet listening.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a. happier or sadder? Happier. I’m pleased to say that. It has been a more recent self observation and I truly think it’s because I’m now working on mending my body.
b. richer or poorer? Did I mention student life problems? Poorer… 😦

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
I always wish that I spent more times with friends then I did. This year I can say that I tried a lot harder to pull people together more often and enjoy more time with others rather then stressing with school and it always boosted my mood.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Spending too much time worrying about what I wasn’t changing.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Hosting Christmas! Seeing so many members of my famjam in our house was super fun but equally exhausting. Worth the work though 🙂

21. Did you fall in love in 2015?
No, but how cute is Christine’s answer..

I fell more in love with the same person. (Aw…)

22. What was your favorite TV program?
Hmmm I have my favourites but a few new favs pulled into my list including Chicago Med and Stalker (<- such a good show but it’s like never on?!?)

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate at this time last year?
Again, ouch. I don’t hate people.

24. What was the best book you read?
LOL that would require reading…. which I don’t tend to do HA well novels that is. I read blogs and articles online.

25. What music did you get excited about?
I really got into Timeflies this year. Their songs have been continuously making their way into my playlists.

26. What did you want and get?
A nutrition volunteer opportunity (Thanks Gabrielle!). A new PR in the gym post working with Mike and I hit 120 for back squats with the best form I have had.

27. What did you want and not get?
A spot on the student nutrition board.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don’t actually watch that many movies, is that weird? The Victoria Secret fashion show is always a hit in my books HA

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 24 on July 3rd and as I get older (I know I know I’m not that old yet lol) I tend to once again make it about family.

30. What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?
Going to Cali 😉

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
HA warmth. After the arctic winter though, I embraced my inner dress lover all that I could in the summer.

I wouldn’t really say I have much of a fashion sense. Is Lululemon considered a fashion concept? Gym Girl Problems.

32. What kept you sane?
The gym. Always the gym.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm toughie, I will say that Jennifer Lawrence always strikes me as a pretty awesome person. She speaks the truth and she is never anyone but herself.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
Politics go over my head for real. Although this whole Trump running for president thing is messing with my mind.

35. Whom did you miss?
Maggie. I really truly miss her when I go back to school. I often have times where I really really miss my Mom too. Thankfully around those times, I can just go home and fill that need.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
There are a few people who I already met but didn’t really spend time with who I got to know better this year. Jessica from my program was one. We talked a bit last year, but she started training at my gym and we just talked more and more. Super sweet girl. Also Cass, whom I met through my housemate Emily. We were able to bond on a specific thing and got a bit closer this year and I’m glad we had that chance because she is such an amazing person.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.
Silently worrying about something brings nothing good to the issue. A hard as something can be to start, it is the only way to make things better.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

Oh geez I’m awful with these types of questions. As cheesy as it’s going to sound and I never thought I would relate to a song by this artist, but Demi Lovato’s new song Confident.

I feel like I have come into the most confidence that I have ever had and I’m loving it and fully embracing it. Coming from a childhood that severely lacked in that department and probably was a huge instigator of my ED, this is a welcomed change.

I’m taking this song as more of a general confidence not the whole sexual side of this song…

It’s time for me to take it
I’m the boss right now
Not gonna fake it

….

‘Cause this is my game
And you better come to play

I hope you enjoyed this lil year wrap-up and have a safe and fun New Years Eve friends!

Song lyrics that sum up your year?

Thing that you wanted this year and got?

Staying Alive On National Shoppin Day

Survival Tip # 1. Don’t go shopping on Boxing Day

The sales will continue on. Don’t you fret.

I kinda went against my rule here because my Dad and I ventured to Whole Foods today…saving my Lululemon raid at the Eaton Centre for Monday.

I thought that maybe that would be a super stupid idea, as I might actually be more at risk at #WholePaycheck then the mall, but I survived and, better yet, it actually wasn’t busy o_O

Guess everyone was either eating leftovers or shopping. Oh well more for me.

They had my purple sweet taters! 10 bucks later on just sweet potatoes is not a problem right?

IMG_8437

So happy Boxing Day my friends! I hope your Christmas was amazing yesterday and that you celebrated with your loved ones and enjoyed a lot of good food and laughter.

We hosted the largest family get together we have had in like a decade at our house yesterday. Despite it being a lot of work (the cleaning never ends I swear!) I love big gatherings because my family is so small and I enjoyed every minute of it.

IMG_8403

Christmas Day started off as it always does. I get up, eat breakfast, do some last minute stuff (do my Dad or Mom’s stocking, wrap my own present to my parents, etc), go back for a nap because it’s too early to get the parents and poochie up and then wake them up.

IMG_8405

Stockings first. Then presents. Maggie was quite a challenge to get a picture of as she was all over the place, wanting to have her ball tossed while simultaneously getting over excited about paper shredding and bow tossing.

My parents then sat down to their favourite once a year breakfast, which was made ON THE GRILL because it was warm out and not snowing. Not complaining! Basically a grand slam for my Dad and a bacon sammich dipped in endless ketchup for my Mom.

The grill makes for the crispiest bacon. #LifeHack

I had my lunch with them and then we were off to the races to get everything set up and prepped before family began to knock at the door at 4-4:30.

I ended up making appetizers that weren’t really necessary as, well, it was 4:30 and dinner was at 6. Oh well, I had fun making them. Pinterest, you always give me fun lil ideas.

IMG_8416

Caprese stuffed mushrooms..

…and a random version of bruschetta flat bread.

IMG_8418

Shortly after some appie’s and drinks, dinner was served and we all ate like a big family picnic as my parents brought in benches so that we could all sit at the same table.

IMG_8419

On the dinner menu included quite the assortment:

~Turkey of course

~The sausage stuffing everyone loved last year

~Garlic mashed potatoes

~My Grandma brought a cheese potato casserole dish

IMG_8421

~My Nana’s turnip and carrot mash

~My Mom’s roasted pineapple ham with a mustard glaze

IMG_8422

And I was in charge of all vegetable dishes:

~Bacon sautéed brussel sprouts

~Honey roasted carrots

~Roasted asparagus, green beans, zucchini and mushrooms

~Roasted multi-coloured mini potatoes and butternut squash

So yes, lots of food.

IMG_8424

My plate.

Then the dessert table came out..

IMG_8436

This included our baking and then also included a panettone cake brought by my cousins fiancé Cassandra, ice cream, a Yule Log, aaannnd a fruit cake

Phew. Yeah, can you picture our clean up now?

As much fun as it always is to have large gatherings, the clean-up is always what exhausts you. Can someone come clean up after our parties? That would be nice.

But it was a lot of fun. I’m so glad I got to see everyone and spend the time with them all. I haven’t seen my cousin Cassie in forever so that was super nice.

Me and Daddy

Did you all have a fun and family filled Christmas?

Do you host or choose to let someone else take on that duty?

Workless Holidays Are Marvellous

My Friends!

To all the Canadians who read up on lil space, Happy Thanksgiving weekend! I hope your belly’s are filled with all kinds of turkey, pie and goodies.

e017f394ff8e4473c1fc7d16f3a8dede3ffeb3b0cfbe55684cc3e54c55f99c2b

Okay maybe Halloween comes first…but fyi in my world Christmas >>>>> Halloween. Just saying.

I’m linking up with Healthy Diva Life with to share my Marvellous Weekend (hello five days!) with you all. Thanks for the party Katie!

MiMM

1. Getting to actually enjoy the holiday and the famjam is so Marvelous

It is rare that I get a Thanksgiving weekend that isn’t right in the middle of midterms so I totally took advantage of the fact that this year my two first midterms were right before the long weekend by doing what any tired student would do

 e734690fed959a2e3a388d46f05cd530

Amirite?

The best.

So yes, I actually got to spend time with my family when they came up for dinner on Sunday for Thanksgiving and didn’t have to have my mind elsewhere or have to run away to study. Also, I got to do what I love doing which is cooking a big part of the dinner!

2. Remembering that gelato is amazing too is quite Marvelous.

Due to being home I knew my Friday Ice Cream Challenge Day would take place at my favourite ice cream shop. Unfortunately for me, my favourites (salted caramel and caribous caboose) are apparently seasonal and got the boot September first. After crying on the inside a lil bit I decided to wander over to their homemade gelatos to find Snickers gelato..

IMG_8148

Yes Snickers gelato! It had so many mixin’s too which is why I was not going for my beloved gelato because I really have come to love those mixin’s and gelato is generally smooth.

On the top was pralines and creme which is really good (caramel and more caramel) but I’m kinda kickin myself for not getting the Reeses (peanut butter gelato with Reeses and peanut butter…I know I would smack me too) gelato along with my other candy inspired flavour (which was amazing btw!).

Peanut butter and caramel = love in my eyes.

Next time it’s going down!

3. Dem shoes are Marvelous

IMG_8163

Got my shoes ladies and gents! Aren’t they purdy. Yes, I’m that girl who wants the loudest colours possible! Went with the Nike Frees and they are super comfy so I’m happy. The flynet 5.0’s were great but unfortunately the smallest size they manufacture was still too big for my child-size feet.

Sometimes being #DollSized is not cute.

Speaking of shopping…

4. Binge-Buying Lululemon after a craving is also Marvelous

Three items…

LW6F54S_013248_4

Wunder Under Crop Hi-Rise

332 bucks..

.LW3F39S_4692_1

Swiftly Tech 1/2 Zip

Oppps. But hey, I’m content.

2013 1125 Lululemon Wunder Under Pant Herringbone

Wunder Under Pant iii In the herringbone

Plus my Dad bought me a cute lil hat from Honey, a cute lil boutique that makes me wish I knew about this place when prom hit…

2043e54cfb1dfe2ddb624a2489c802db

Looks like this but its a rose colour all around…and not a baby hat 😉

5. Food is Marvelous

Turkey on the grill via Dad..

IMG_8159

Sides by my Mama and I…

Mom’s new addition was her craving for a sweet mashed potato. It was simply mashed sweet taters with booth, brown sugar, cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg.

Plain mashed potatoes with buttah and milk for the gravy dumpers..and my Dad.

Roasted root vegetables by moi….purple sweet taters (thank you Whole Foods for bringing back my favs!), regular sweet pots, brussels and green beans with rosemary, olive oil and thyme

Roasted Asparagus

My Mom’s infamous roasted mustard glazed ham with roasted pineapple. Always a crowd pleaser.

Maple roasted carrots that I made for my Mama

Stuffing..not homemade, we will tackle that one at Christmas

My Dinnah plate..

IMG_8160

Hit the spot.

Oh and the unpictured peach pie and MY ICE CREAM (the Kawartha Salted Caramel Truffle my Dad bought for me a while ago)…which I haven’t touched yet…Fear Food:1, Chelsea:0, was the dessert for the fam. Yes, peach is not very Thanksgiving like but when it’s made with the last of the in season peaches from the farmers market, you bring that **it out in all it’s glory. The fam really enjoyed it. We did good Mom!

6. Finally making what you meant to make eons ago is Marvelous

Remembering that I had some beautiful ground lean elk in the freezer that I wanted to make up using the grill ended off becoming a foil pan full of freezer ready sliders (X2 servings), meatballs (X1 serving) and burger patties (X2 servings).

IMG_8157

Sorry for the horrible pictorial…it was getting dark by the time I snappsied the goods.

I really love the flavour of elk. It’s my new favourite game meat.

For these I simply seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, diced onion, garlic powder, chill flakes, fennel seed, and lots of cracked black pepper and then formed them up and tossed them on the grill.

Easy Peasy and now I got #RedMeatGains for days that I can just pull out of the freezer as I please.

7. Stocking up on your ‘at home goodies’ is always Marvelous

Those things that you can only really get when at home.

IMG_8147

So you make sure to get allllll them goods. For me, it’s taking a trip to my Freezer Place (a hidden gem here in Acton with all bulk frozen stuff but that includes organics, my game meats and lotsa local fish for great prices). So I hustled my lil tussle over to there and picked up a few hundred things essentials

~1 Arctic Char Fillet

~2 4ounce Venison Medallion Steaks

~2 4 Ounce Elk Medallion Steaks

~1 Package of Jumbo Sea Scallops

Thanks Mom and Dad 😉

8. Seeing my new Coach who will lead me to better health the way I want it to be done.

I expressing great gratitude to a family friend, Michael Grayer, for taking my challenging self on as I have finally accepted that I need help in this weight restoration process. The difference between him and a dietician…

DSC_0363-Michael-Grayer

Bodybuilder, Torque Barbell Club Owner and very successful Prep Coach.

He will push me to gain weight I need to in the way that is more focused around my goals. Weight that is not just weight but that is strength and beauty. #MoeMusclesPlease

Yes we are working towards the same picture, but I know this process will still be tough. I need to give my control to him and know that he will not steer me wrong and that will be very hard for me. He will bring my physique to new heights which will not only make changes aesthetically, but it will bring me back up to an acceptable health status as well.

I can’t thank him enough. See more about him here.

Well thats it my friends! I have one more day off tomorrow (that is our winter ‘reading break’…one day HA! but hey I will take it) and that is when I trek over to the Barbell Club to chit chat with Michael and plan out how things are gunna be from now on. I’m nervous for the change but more excited then anything to see what he can bring for me.

Have a great week!

Favourite Thanksgiving side dish? I make a mean savoury and spice sweet tater mash that I really enjoy, but roasted veggies are always good.

When The Bird Hits The Charcoal…Thinking Out Loud

My Friends!

Wow what a week so far. I’m so looking forward to sleeping in my bed (much needed!) after this week I had. We had a houseguest (remember Emily’s Chad?) come up for the weekend and I hated the fact that I couldn’t explore Guelph with them as I was stuck studying for my two midterms Tuesday (biomammalian  physiology) and Wednesday (research methods). With those back to back, plus a typical weekly quiz and assignment due, I was a lil bit busy…

Oh the life of learning. When I get busy that is not an excuse to miss the gym. That is my sanity and stress release. Post workout stir fry in my new buddy (i.e. thermos life) with some nice company…ie my backpack before my second midterm yesterday.

Not to worry though, I rewarded myself nicely with this…

And baking! Did some pumpkin-a-fying last night (aka pumpkin rampage) because I apparently needed to get a baking itch that had been suppressed for way to long.

So what did the housemates get?

IMG_8145

Amanda’s Flourless Pumpkin Muffins.

I made them in my bundt pan and added some dark chocolate in the middle. They loved them last year and loved them just as much last night. They are currently more then half gone over the past 12 hours

Emily likes them…a lot 😀

She and Rita also enjoyed some good ol’ punkin and peanut butter oats in a jar as well because, well, if you open the pumpkin jar you mind as well just keep going right?

Well one OIAJ and one make shift OIAJ which just means a bowl that will have to be scraped with a hack saw to get the oatmeal off of it…

Don’t let oatmeal bowls go unsoaked my friends. You will be sorry if you do…

#TipOfTheDay

So onto this weekend, what are you all doing for Thanksgiving?

I’m grilling a turkey.

No really.

Hopefully it’s more successful then Mr. Bean’s first turkey attempt.

I’m wondering how cooking a turkey on the grill (i.e. rotisserie) will turn out.

…then again, grilled food is always better food, right?

So why am I worried?

Speaking about being home, do you ever have those stupid lil things that you get excited about when you go home and miss when you leave?

For me, there are some obvious ones..

Maggie

The Grill

My parents (…Mom if your’e reading this, this was not in any specific order and thus the grill is not before you :-P)

ice

and the car

But then there are those that are just so silly it seems…

My parents fridge because it has an crushed ice maker.

Being able to buy and eat alllll the best food I want because I buy groceries… 😉 #Interest

So I’m thinking that since I have said car in my possession and a weekend where I’m doing virtually no school work (thanks for scheduling my midterms before the holiday for once!), I’m thinking of going to Square One on Saturday to squash a Lululemon craving

Solution: just shop there more often so that you don’t binge shop. Amirate?

Yes I have a craving for a store.

What that hasn’t happened to you?

You know what other inedible item I’m ‘craving’?

101528

I think it might be these 4.0 Flyknit ones. All I know is that they are really snug to the foot…minimalist like just like my beloved vibrims

A pair of bright Nikes.

And I’m currently kicking myself for not asking the girl I have been shoe-stalking for the past month at the gym what type her Nik’s are.

Anyways this night has been a bit emotional for me (a post will come) so I’m gunna call it while we are still keeping it light and cheery.

One last thing though..

I have been asked to do a ‘grocery haul tips for student’ post by the lovely Laura.

Of course I will definitely do one and hopefully it can be beneficial to those students out there who are looking for some tips but inspire me a bit…

What specific tips are you looking for?

Shoppin on a budget?

Organics tips?

Talk to me and I will make it up pronto.

Thanks to Amanda for letting me Think Out Loud on this Thursday.
