It’s that time of the week again…time for some nom drooling 😀 I have the day off (all off!!!) today AGAIN (OMG) with the exception of a rather early staff meeting (had to be up at 5:30…sigh) at the gym this morning so I’m thinking that if nothing comes up that I will do what I did on my last day off and wander down to Dundas and maybe do another Bikram yoga sesh. We shall see how I feel. On the feelings note, I’m not a happy camper right now as it has been the 3rd day in a row that my tummy has just not been right. Ever since my cheat meal on Sunday evening (which I will show you in this post and tasted amazing!) I have been having MAJOR digestive issues that have just not quit. 😦 I think its my body reacting to the lactose…despite taking lactaids..? Anyways, I’m getting frustrated as of lately because with all the changes that I have been having to do with my calories my stomach has been getting quite angry and retaliating against me. Apparently it’s super sensitive to change of any kind, good, bad, doesn’t matter, it doesn’t like it. Anyone out there lactose intolerant and know what helps get your digestion back on track after a slip??? Lactaids are supposed to protect me from these situations but alas, they failed me this time.
The major issue I’m having right now is that I don’t want to fear food because I’m afraid of what the consequences of eating it will be. I should be able to have foods that are not in my regular rotation without pain, bloating and days on days of irritable digestion right?
Anyways, I digress…
On to some of the fun stuff!
Remember to go visit Miss Jen and Lil Chickpea for her noms and the other WIAW partiers foodporn here.
Every week we be slide-showin…nah nah nah…
Except I will talk a lil this time as I know you missed my chatters last week. 😉
Proat’in it Up!
I have been loving blueberries as my second fruit of choice lately. I managed to snag a HUGE free to staff bag of organic bloobs (it has a small hole in the corner…score!) from work. Win in my book! 😀
This morning I decided to brave the Zoats commotion….like I need more veggies in my life ahah 😀 This was the bowl last night (I soak my oats every night, helps with digestion and nutrient absorption) of 100g shredded zucchini added to my typical mixture of 1/3 scoop chocolate New Zealand whey, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1/3 heaped cup oats and 1/3 cup each unsweetened almond milk and water aaaann 1/2 tsp coconut oil (extra fats on rest days). Beware it ain’t pretty…
In the morning it was cooked for 3 minutes (watched to make sure it didn’t overflow…it tried!) then had 2.5 egg whites stirred, topped with 60g frozen blueberries in and nuked again for 2 minutes. Take it out and stir it all up and top with raw cacao nibs and some buttaaaa
Verdict? The zucchini is virtually tasteless and to be honest, the only reason I didn’t say that it was completely gone was probably because I had to drop the grams of bloobs to make up for the added zucchini. I likee LOTS of bloobs but this was really yummy and a great way to add veggies into your breakfast if you are sweet/dessert breaky fan like me. Try it out!
What Up Lunch?
The Salad Evolution!
Like I said, rest days I CRAVE salads like no ones business and I decided to show ya all the make up of my big ol’ salad bowls. NOTE, beware this contains a lot of fiber and my stomach kinda put up a fuss after this one. Lesson learned..don’t add legumes to already fibrous salads.
It was really good despite my tummy being mad with me after….
One last lunchie from today…also a rest day. A new #Powerbowl!
Lots of #BowlsOfStuff going on for work dinners:
But check’it I also had a dinner on a plate yesterday night!
SO SO SO GOOD! All my favourites, fish, greens and roasted squash (mostly buttercup here!). First time trying barramundi and it was quite good. MMMM this picture makes me want it all over again….I love my food 😀
Ok so it wasn’t midnight when I ate these…but they are my favourite snack of the day!
…about those muffins. I made these lil babies last night to test out whether my liking…rather disliking…for pumpkin had changed over the years. It is fall after all and after seeing so much pumpkin, I wanted to join the party.
…they look at cute and yummy and boy did they smell good BUT they were lacking the depth of flavour that I was looking for. So for now, they are just okay and more of a work in progress. Darn you macros…trying to fit a recipe for macros first, taste second is quite tricky.
Last but not least…
I give you my cheat meal that
has proceeded to kill me I had on Sunday evening with my parents. Oh they brought Maggie again too so I got to visit with her like rambunctious self 😀 Anyways, we had an old favourite combo of mine…
…and gelato! My carb of choice 😉 OMG I haven’t had gelato in forever which is quite a shocker as last year, EVERY weekly cheat was this. This also makes me wonder why it has affected my stomach so poorly this time ’round but I’m hoping this doesn’t mean no gelato in the future as that would make me quite sad! I went with my top favourite, pistachio, obviously BUT also tried a new one, cookie flavour. Quite yummy! It was vanilla I believe with chocolate crunchy wafers in it. Although it’s not as good as a cookie dough (soft doughy pieces, not crispy), it was good!
I will leave you with what delivered to me today by Mr. Postman…
AWWWW YEAH! Anyone tried the new flavour (double chocolate chunk) yet?!?!? I’m super excited and testing it out tonight with my pudding! For the best overall tasting experience, I will do half raw and half baked I think. 😀 Food Nerd Alert! Oh and how nice are they to throw in the bestest flavour as my extra bar. Thanks Quest!
That’s all for today, hope your hump day was fun-tastic 😀
Top 3 favourite Quest bar flavours? SUPER HARD but I suppose if I hhhaaaad to pick 3…Cookie dough, white chocolate raspberry and the peanut butter supreme (or banana nut…see I can’t choose)
Are you a salad lover? What HAS to be in your salads? Roasted veggies are really big hit with me!
